About Hermann Max Pechstein

Hermann Max Pechstein (1881–1955) was a German painter and printmaker and a major figure in German Expressionism. He joined Die Brücke in 1906 and developed a recognisable language of forceful contour, simplified form and heightened colour. Landscapes, fishing communities, portraits, nudes and still lifes remained recurring subjects throughout his career.
