Lady with a Lute (1886) by Thomas Dewing
Lady with a Lute (1886), dated 1886, is a portrait or figure study centred on an individual sitter. Pose, dress and setting carry much of the description, while the face and silhouette remain the main visual focus.
Dewing is associated with American Tonalism. He is best known for refined interiors and garden scenes populated by elegant women, using muted harmonies, softened contours and sparse settings to create decorative, highly controlled compositions.

I am absolutely thrilled with my prints of three of Franz Marc's artworks from Gallery Thane. The colours are vibrant and beautiful and I am so pleased with the slightly textured art paper which gives the prints the impression of depth and authenticity which I am sure brings them a little closer to the originals in appearance, although, thankfully, not in price!
The prints arrived within two days of ordering, which was a pleasant surprise and I lost no time in ordering two more, with the bonus of a 10% discount for a repeat order. I would definitely recommend this company.
Print was effectively high quality and perfect.
Deliver to Italy without problems.
Actually goin’ to be framed.
Eager to see it over my bed.
If you're a fan of Impressionist Art then you will love this poster.
The print is beautiful. Exactly what I expected and arrived on time. Customer service is top notch. Would order again.
Ordered a print of "The Secret School" for my husband who has been hinting for it for a long while. The quality is *excellent* - I love it, and know he will too when he gets it as a gift! Very impressed with the quality -- also the packing... zero issues coming "across the pond" here to the US. :)
After finding the print I wanted to purchase I also chose a black wood frame with mount and the picture looks fantastic ,will definitely be ordering again .
I bought two prints and l love them both. The quality is very good.
They arrived very quickly and well packaged.
We just received the fine art print (artist PS Kroyer) and are thrilled. The quality of the print and the art paper used are extraordinary and preserve perfectly the colours of the original art. It was extremely well wrapped and packed in a very solid cardboard tube. I highly recommend Gallery Thane for their service and speed of completing our order.
Really great print, excellent quick service, thanks.
Fantastic service from James and delighted with the print , frame and delivery so prompt.
Highly recommend.
Bought this print to replace a faded framed copy. It arrived sooner than expected and very well wrapped. The paper was excellent quality. It’s back on the wall looking brighter and better than ever.
I was looking for something different to adorn my office walls following a recent refurbishment and these fitted the bill perfectly. I work for the company they were originally designed for, so really like the heritage and retro feel they bring. Paired with some black IKEA Ribba frames they look really striking. A little pricey, but worth the investment I feel.
I purchased this as a remembrance to my grandmother Mamoo, who was born in 1895. She had a print hanging in her living room. As a child I just loved it. I had it for years then passed it a long to her great granddaughter but I wanted a small print. It is just beautiful and I love it!
Great!!
Excellent company, no hesitation in recommending them at all. Order was posted within a day and arrived well packed. The print itself is fantastic quality. James was extremely helpful with a couple of questions I had. Many thanks.
