A standing figure within the doorway

Self-Portrait, 1930 sets the dark-clothed sitter against pale architectural panels, holding a rectangular object near one side. The tall format follows the body closely. Small wall details and the angle of the surrounding frame make the figure’s place in the room as deliberate as the pose itself.

Fish and a tall vessel against folded cloth

Red Mullets arranges several pale pink fish around a dark upright form, with drapery spreading behind them. Their different orientations create a radiating group of small bodies and fins. The limited surrounding objects keep the surfaces, shadows and pointed shapes of the fish particularly prominent.

Flowers enclosed by the hanging fabric

Bouquet of Anemones gathers pink, purple and pale blooms in a clear cylindrical vessel before softly folded cloth. Stems remain visible through the glass, adding finer straight lines below the rounded flower heads. The arrangement connects natural detail to a carefully controlled setting of curved fabric and pale shadows.
