David Roberts Prints – Egypt, Temples & Historic Architecture
David Roberts prints explore ancient temples, Cairo streets, monumental ruins and desert settings. Small figures provide a sense of scale beneath columns, gateways and statues, while open views lead towards distant pyramids and horizons. Browse unframed prints, framed prints and canvas panels, alongside our architectural art and Old Masters prints.
Temple interiors and monumental columns
View from under the Portico of the Temple of Dendera looks between large decorated columns, with small figures near their bases. The restricted viewpoint gives the architecture much of its impact. Other temple views move between gateways, sanctuaries and open courts, offering different relationships between enclosed space and light.
The Sphinx and the desert horizon
The Great Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza places the Sphinx in the foreground with the pyramids rising behind across pale sand. This open setting contrasts with the close columns and carved walls of the temple interiors. The collection also includes the Nile, distant banks and broad views around ancient sites.
Edfu, Cairo and the inhabited setting
Temple of Edfu follows a row of large columns beside a small group of people. Cairo subjects elsewhere turn to mosques, minarets, gates and tombs. These are composed artistic views, with choices of angle, scale and detail shaping how each place is presented.
