Anton Mauve Prints – Sheep, Horses & Quiet Country Landscapes
Anton Mauve prints bring animals and people into open dunes, snow-covered ground and green pasture. Low horizons and restrained colour give the land and sky a continuous presence around each group. Explore rural work and changing weather alongside landscape prints and animal art.
Riders between dune and sea
Morning Ride along the Beach follows three mounted figures down a sandy slope towards the shore. Their dark coats stand against the pale beach and blue water. The broad view leaves room around the riders, so the horses’ different positions can be read against the quiet horizontal bands of the coast.
A flock crossing pale ground
Flock of Sheep with Shepherd in the Snow gathers the sheep into a close, uneven mass beneath a grey sky. The shepherd rises above their backs while patches of vegetation break through the snow. Warm woolly tones keep the animals distinct even where the surrounding ground and sky approach one another in colour.
A pause beside the ditch
Cattle Watering places cattle near water beneath a spreading tree, with a figure farther along the bank. Green pasture opens towards a distant horizon. The still scene offers a different relationship between animal and landscape from the moving flock or the riders descending towards the beach.
