Pair Antique Watercolour Paintings Egyptian Landscape Art Framed Signed Paintings 19th Century Arabian Paintings
A fantastic pair of antique watercolour paintings from the late 19th century. At that time Egypt was part of the British Empire and eastern goods were becoming increasingly popular. Egypt gained its independence from Britain in 1922 but movement of goods continued throughout the 1930s as did the British public's love of eastern art. These paintings have beautiful ebonized mahogany frames with ornate gilt inner edges.
A muted, pastel colour palette gives a mirage look to them. The work is understated, elegant and. if paintings could speak, could tell a thousand stories of their travels and wealth of experience. Both striking and intriguing, they draw the eye immediately to them to the wonder and history of the East.
Each framed painting measures 26.75" (68.5cm) tall x 36" (91.5cm) wide overall. The frame comprises an ebonised dark wood outer frame, glazed panel and inner gold painted frame under the glazing. The total frame width is approx. 4 inches. There is some historical damage to the edges of the frames which adds to their authentic antique charm.

Delivery outside mainland England: PLEASE NOTE the glass in each frame is very old. They will be packed with multiple layers of impact resistant materials before being packed in a sturdy box. I cannot get insurance for glass breakage in transit outside of England. In the unlikely event that one or both glass panels should break in transit I will refund 10% of the purchase price - you can then have them re-glazed locally.
