A crowd before the decorated façade

The Piazza of Saint Mark’s, Venice fills the foreground with seated visitors, standing figures and small exchanges. Repeated arches and ornamental details extend across the building behind them. The wide format lets the eye move between individual people and the continuous architecture enclosing the public space.

A small flower seller beneath a portico

St Martin-in-the-Fields places the foreground figure well below the church’s tall columns and pediment. Carriages and pedestrians gather across the wet street. Reflections and pale sky soften the open space around the building, while the flower basket supplies a small, clearly focused detail near the viewer.

A low boat beneath a distant skyline

Venice Lagoon leaves much of the image to warm sky and reflective water, with domes and towers gathered along the horizon. The foreground boat gives the distance a useful scale. Soft colour links the buildings to their reflections rather than outlining every architectural detail sharply.
